This past fall, Liberti had launched a KickStarter campaign for our initial crowdfunding efforts, and for a lack of better words to describe the outcome, the campaign failed. About that time, a good friend shared Brene Brown’s latest book, Rising Strong, where the author encouraged me to dust myself off after a fall and begin the brave journey of getting back up again. Brown further inspired me to realize the raw essence of what “vulnerability” really means and why it’s so valuable for success in life and business. It’s not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not a weakness; it’s our greatest and most profound measure of courage.
“Rising Strong” means to acknowledge the fall of failure and to allow yourself to “rumble with all the uncomfortable yuck that comes along with failure.”
Learn from it. Be in it. Discuss it.
Then, rise again with a new vision of what’s possible, keeping the lessons learned top of mind and maintaining a humbled yet tenacious perspective. Facing our stories takes courage; owning our stories is the only way we get to write a brave new ending.
I’ve learned so much from the fall. Since then, several wonderful people have joined my team, including an angel investor, all of whom I am so grateful. This has enabled us to put what we’ve learned into action, with the launch of our beautiful “Less than 1%” jewelry collection to be released March 15th. With our new collection, we’ll be launching an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to help us kickstart our apprenticeship program, which is aimed at empowering and employing refugees with on-the-job training and career building opportunities. Join the <1% movement and support our new collection this month on Indiegogo.com
